My travel news......

More travel news.....

Well I will have to take some time to report on my latest travel adventures.

I left for Ireland 2 weeks ago, sadly to attend a funeral but even these things have to take a large part of our lives.

I reached Ireland and after 26 hours flying spent the next few days trying to get my legs used to being on the ground. It was all over within a few days and after catching up with family and friends I needed to find a Poker game.

Day 4 and I went off to a tourney in a local village with 24 player registered and a buy in of 30 Euros with unlimited rebuys for the first 2 hours. I'm not sure if any of you have experienced these "local" games but unlimited is the real name of the game.

I saw more "All In's" than in a freeroll at Poker.com or Carbon.

After an hour and 2 rebuys I decided to let the fish go swimming and headed home.

Then that Friday off to Dublin for the "Greyhound Derby Final". Had a great night.

6.30 the next morning off to the airport for my flight to Birmingham in the UK. Reached Stoke and the "Wass" guys at the Grosvenor by lunch-time and lined up for the "Main Event" of the Wass weekend tourneys.

68 or 69 players sat down to the "Freeze-out" tourney. I knew one or two of the players from games at Poker.com but for the main part they were all new to me. Most notable of course was Novice49 or Jo to all who know her.

It took a while for me to settle in but after the first break I started to get a few good hands. The first of these was pocket 10's and with the blinds at 100 chips I just flat called and found myself with 5 players to the flop.

Flop came queen, 10, 6 and I was second last to act. Player one checked, next bet 400 chips, next folded, after a few seconds to study the board I moved "All In". Next 2 fold, the 400 bet calls for all his chips and it's heads up.

He turns over queen 9. No help on the turn or the river so he heads for the rails.....my first victim. I think I went on to take out about 0 players on my way to the final table.

Down to 10 players and I head to the final table as "Big Stack"

Well if my journey to the final table was the 7 years of plenty the next hour was the 7 years of famine. It took me ages to hit a hand.

Down to 5 players and I was now the short stack....something had to happen.

Next hand I decide to push against the blinds when under-the-gun.....I move all in and they all fold so I live through the blinds. The big stack takes out number 5 with Ace Jack against Ace 6 I think, down to 4.

In my BB I hit Ace 10 Spades, small stack moves against me...I call. He shows pocket 9's I think they were, I hit my 10 and put him out and move into 2nd place. The next hand UTg moves against my SB and I fold, BB calls the all in and has him well covered.

I can't remember the exact cards but the BB (Big Stack) hits his hand on the river.

So now I'm heads up. I get lucky twice and double up twice. After the second double up I ask for a chip count as we are now very close. It turns out he has 96,000 to my 90,000, all I need is one more hand.

Next hand I have Ace Diamonds 10 Spades in my SB. I move all in and he quickly calls me and turns over King Jack off suit.

Flop come 4D, 8D, JD he pairs his Jack but I am left with a few outs. Turn helps no-one but the River puts the nail in my coffin with a King....no not the King of Diamonds.

So after 4 and a half hours play I get my 2nd place trophy. I had a most enjoyable evening and made a lot of new friends and can recommend WASS to one and all.

4 days later I finished 2nd from 36 in a tourney in Ireland and added a few more Euros to my bankroll. So all in all a nice trip.

Back in St Kitts now, in the warm tropics. Need to get my seat at the CPC. Wink
